Cultural question: What's the connection between being unfaithful and machismo?

What is the connection between being unfaithful and machismo? In other words, is there something about the machismo engrained in Latin American cultures which makes acceptable or permissable being unfaithful (a man sleeping with other women while married)?

I believe it's unnatural for men to be with one person.  Men were never made to be married to one women and only sleep with one women. Originally, marriage was created so men could be sure a women's baby was theirs. Specifically the Machismo way of thinking is mostly a front for other men to see and for women to be fearful of. Yeah sure its the way things are done but its really rooted from the cave man. Women are not equal should be treated lesser important yadda yadda. Basically they want to appear tough for the guys, as do most other men, naturally they cant keep their eyes off other women, they have all these hormones, they cant control themselves, they may not think twice about the feelings of others, they are in it for their own personal gain and cheating on their significant other happens. I wouldnt totally say  in the Latin American culture, I believe that is men in general.

I think you've given a darn good answer there Hollie.  The base desire of the male is to spread his sperm...the sex drive is to procreate and the baser the male the more he thinks with his sex organ instead of his heart or his head.

Once he evolves, he learns the finer points of living and embraces the idea of loyalty and keeps the feelings of his spouse uppermost in his mind/heart.  He learns the dignity that comes with maturity.

Then he makes a good husband to his wife and father to his children. It's not one group over another as you said, "it's men in general."  Women are the nesters and men are the braggarts. Not all of course....but "generally" speaking.
