Costa Rica is a Catholic country and it’s holidays are mostly church-related. Most businesses, including banks, close on official holidays. The country closes down entirely during the biggest holiday time, Easter Holy Week.
My understanding is that because of the communist regime, a few churches in Havana are sometimes permitted to hold Palm Sunday processions outside their buildings, but attendance at church services is still generally very low. This reflects the small number of practicing Catholics in Cuba. Religious traditions were banned for 40 years in Cuba, and only in the past few (about three) years has public celebration been allowed.
