When I drive on a highway and I use the cruise control, does the car consume more fuel, less fuel or about the same?
It depends on the road you're on. If it's flat, use the cruise control and you'll save a lot of fuel (up to 10%!). If it's a mountain road, don't use it.

Assuming a long flat road, you will get a lot better mileage because by going at a steady speed you avoid constant acceleration. When not using cruise control one cannot help but constantly accelerating and decelerating so as to hurt fuel economy.
Actually it saves ampul amounts of fuel while on cruise control more then u might think see when u set the cruise control the truck is automaticly " sorry about my spelling" lol. adjusting itself to the speed and contour alone meaning its self shifting and thinking and when it feeds on its own then its at the most non stressed point of opperating so most deffinetly a fuel saver lol

What is the law on cruise control? Is it permitted to use on all roads, such as urban areas with 30 mph limits
You only live once go for it
less fuel. bacause the throttle mostly stays in one place! stop and go and city driving kills gas milage.

As previously stated by others, on flat ground your mileage will improve dramatically, but on a mountain road it can actually cost you. I drive 18wheelers for a living, and I can give you an example: on flat ground with my foot on the accellerator I can usually get about 10mpg, with cruise on the same road I can get 13-14mpg...which doesnt sound like a lot but it's a 30-40% difference over 10mpg.
maybe it up yo the person who drive, some they like to drive past and some drive slow its just becouse they just want no accident happen to them

It would depend on the speed and if the engine is still running it will continue consuming fuel.
