Crocs shoes cause accidents in Japan

40 accidents were reported in Japan

, caused by people wearing crocs while using escalators. One girl broke her toe and three nails were ripped. This is terrible, but I can't understand how this happens... Like the rest of the world I am an owner of the plastic shoes (if they can be called that). They're comfortable and easy to clean, but how do you get stuck on the stairs?

Sure, Crocs may catch easier to the ground, but it's pretty clear that these people just weren't being careful.  If a kid was caught on the escalator, then the parent wasn't watching them carefully.  Everyone learns at a young age that you need to be careful when you get to the end of an escalator... because you need to step early enough.  I don't know... I just don't think that the Crocs company should be at all responsible.

Maybe because of the heat giving off by the escalators, malleability and shape of the Crocs. These factors  might cause them to get caught between the steps of the escalators. I only know this because I read the newspapers and read an article warning about the dangers of these innovative shoes. I personally don´t find them appealing to wear them in spite of their orthotic support.

We're not retreating... we're advancing in another direction.

I guess there are some shoes with more traction than others, and if you look at the bottom of crocs, they have a lot of little bumps on the bottom, sort of like hiking boots.  However, the difference is that the little bumps at the bottom of crocs are soft, just like the rest of the shoe, which makes it easier to get nudged into the end of an escalator.  In the end though, I think that this should bring some awareness to parents to be more careful with their kids, especially if they're wearing crocs... and anyone old enough to read these stories alone should be more careful as well.
