Research the process of credit repair services and also the firms offering such services. There may be many such firms and to short-list few, it is better to go through their offers and also follow up on the references that they provide.

In the state of Georgia, Lenders, banks insured by the FDIC, and nonprofit organizations can give the credit repair advice.  In some situations, a real estate broker, attorney or registered financial advisor may also advise for the credit repair services.

The main governing law is the CROA - credit repair organizations act.  They are usually the same state-to-state, but may differ slightly so check your state's version.

Another good thing to know would be the statute of limitations for your client getting sued in your state - could affect your credit repair strategy.
