Credit card closure

I received a letter stating that my credit card was being cancelled because a new company took it over and I dont meet their criteria for card issuance. This card has never been paid late and every payment was more than the minimum due.  I was in the process of starting to look for a home to purchase and was wondering how badly this closure is going to affect my credit score and for how long??? Julie
