Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

Be very, very careful!  Most debt solution companies are gimmicks that charge you fees and don't really help you, and many are full-blown frauds.

Try to find a reputable, not-for-profit company.  I have heard financial reporters recommend Cambridge Credit Counseling.

Keep in mind that arranging settlements with creditors will still damage your credit report for 7 years.  No one gets out of debt unscathed.

You may want to try and settle your debt with your creditors by yourself before seeking a third party assistance program.  Many creditors have hardship programs and if you push hard enough and don't take no for an answer you may be able to resolve your own credit debt.

I support Earls' comment about being careful - far, far too many people jump into getting credit card and debt help from companies that offer miracle solutions (e.g. a painless way of filing for bankruptcy - it doesn't exist - or that debt consolidation is always the best option - it isn't).  Read my recent article on starting Debt Managment there, it's helpful for people just starting out on their journey towards being debt-free, be it through online advice or via a more traditional approach.

Credit card debt consolidation can help but check out the company you will be dealing with very carefully.  Some of the so called "debt settlement" companies charge HUGE fees up front, really do your homework to know who you are dealing with.

If you are seeking for an online credit card debt help, there are many companies that specialized in debt counseling that aimed to help people who have unsecured debt. In most cases, there's a form that you can fill out so that they will contact you..

Seeking a credit card debt help from a professional is not that hard as you might think. This involves the negotiation between your creditor and your counselor on your behalf to reduce your interest rates into a manageable payment.

One of the companies that is a good resource is Total Debt Services (TDS), they offer credit card debt that will probably make you get out of debt in time. If you want to learn more, visit their site at http://www.totaldebtservices.com

Hope this helps!

There are a lot of companies that claim to help people with credit issues that are actually scams. Most of the things these companies will do for you, you can actually do for yourself if you just take the time to do it. At least if you are taking care of your credit issues on your own you will know what to do in case issues arise in the future. I've found the benefits of giving my credit health a review from time to time really pay off. I can make sure that there is nothing fishy on my report and fix any problems myself. You really have to be careful with this.

Credit counseling services can help you evaluate your financial situation and provide you with comprehensive review of your income assets and expenses, including unsecured debts such as credit cards, department store cards, personal loans, past due medical bills, past due utility bills and IRS bills.

Certified credit counselors provide personalized service as well as alternatives based upon needs which include agency referrals, educational materials, and an ancillary Debt Management Plan.

Other benefits of our Debt Management Plan Include:

  • No hidden fees
  • Most creditor guidelines provide for lower interest rates
  • No waiting period to get started
  • $100 minimum balance required per account
  • We can develop a sensible budget for you that you can live with.
  • We will not terminate you from the plan if you are unable to fulfill established payment terms. Once we are notified, we work to further identify a plan that will accurately reflect your ability to pay off your debt.
