A great way to get your credit score up if you have a lot of debt is to go through a debt consolidation company that can reduce your debt, eliminate your interest rates completely and provide you with a monthy program that works best for you to pay off your debt.  As you do this your credit score goes up. When I was in debt I used SafeTrust financial. I believe the website is Safetrustfinancial.com. Call for a guy named Antoine 888-565-8974 ext. 2004

I simply use my american express card for almost all of my monthly purchases.  Sometimes they offer double points for places that i usually shop, ie: gas station, pharmacy, etc.  You can really rack up the points quickly!  You do have to pay an annual fee for the card, but, most of the time the entire balance is due at the end of the month.  This keeps me on track and out of credit card debt.  I carry very little cash during the month and write checks when necessary.  If you know you have to pay the bill in full at the end of the month, it controls over-spending.  Works for me!
