Any idea how much it would cost to have a plumber replace the main water valve in a condo? Approximately?
I would put in a call to a few places and do a price comparison. That's the best way to know that you're not getting ripped off. Good luck.

Wide range of prices depending on whether there is a shutoff for the vertical column of apts above and/or blow you, or whether entire bldh has to be shut off. Min: $150. Last year I replaced one in a bldg with no shut off, so 8 blds had to be shut off, with notices provided to each resident a week in advance. Plumber are like cabbies, in that the meter keeps ticking and the bill keeps rising if the time keeps adding up.
