ok stupids, pay attention first take the motor outta yer bike.2 strip the frame of everything except paint swingarm and rear shocks. 3 sell the stock frame on ebay.4 find a new paughco hardtail frame and oil tank. they run around a thousand bucks key word here is new we need these guys to stay in bussiness. 5 take one lower leg off the front end,measure the length of the fork tube, now call forking by frank and tell him the length of your stock tube and year of your sportster,then proudly tell him youll be ordering a new set of 10in overstock tubes for your American motorcycle.(12 if yor frame has 40' rake)this will set you back 225 bucks with shipping.6 order new fork seals,extra long front brake line,drag pipes(the rear pipe should mount high and straight),6in flat fender,tombstone tailight,and last but not least hardtail seat and sissybar, go with a le pera seat,and get this stuff from your local independent shop thats been treated you the best even though your a poser. 7 make freinds with someone whos gotta wielder.mount the oil tank ie weild tabs on the downtube and reuse the stock rubber mounted oil tank things (they screw off). weild a small tray behind the transmittion mount under the fender this is where the battery will live. cut about 10 inches off yer flat fender and save it for a cover and to hide the wiring about where your stock battery should go on the left side of the bike. If your smart you would have ordered your frame with some rake,no more than 40 tho.what number your on now?I fergit,Next get two old spokes from a rear motorcycle wheel,trim them down and spot weild them around the vin number onthe frame. fish plate the gaps of the frame with either 16 or 20 ga sheet metal what ever you can find or recycle off of old washing machines, car hoods etc. Buy a big vat of bondo and go to town on the neck this is importain leaving the numbers framed in by the spokes. Now put yer engine in. remove the timing cover, getta hacksaw and a grinder now remove all thats not needed which is alot, only keep the outline of the gasket. now buy a starting and middle tap at your local hardware store dont forget to grab a plug that fits the tap threads. at the bottom of yer timing cover youll see a small hole, make use of the tap then put hi temp locktight on the plug and fergitaboutit. we cut this down so you can get to the oilpump lines easier and it looks Bitchen. when puttin the timing cover back on make sure its clean really clean you should have done your best while hacking the thing up to keep metal outta the cover.Now I want ya to take the spark plugs outta the heads and assuming the belt and rear wheel is hooked up gently put the xl in 4 th or if you got it 5th gear. have someone spin the rear wheel while you fit the timming cover back into place. dont force it!with the cams spinning it will go on by itself.Oh yea use a NEW gasket,thanks. with that done buy a dyna 2000 ignition system and wire it up its really easy, use a stock regulator and dontforget circut breakers.
