Why has this commercial caused so much controversy?
It's not as if anyone's really surprised young people are "doing it", right?
Not everyone is "doing it," so why encourage others? Advertising is powerful because it is so persuasive which is why a department store that caters to familyvalues should be more careful.

This question is controversial because it implies that JC Penny supports pre-marital sex and lying to parents. Though many people will find the commericial humourous, some will question whether JC Penny needs to encourage pre-marital sex when they're trying to sell products which aren't related to sex.
