how do I find out the truth about winning  a contest is  it legit?

If you received an email, snailmail or phone call telling you that you've won a contest that you never entered, you can be sure it's NOT legit.  If they ask you for money to get your prize, it's also not going to be legit.  Anything that involves YOUR money isn't going to be legit.  I think you can check with your state attorney general to see if they know anything about it.  Be suspicious of anything that seems to good to be true.
