I'm interested in:

Content management web sites

I've asked for advice on Joomla! but several have said to me that there are much simpler content management systems that are easy to learn and implement. So I'm stuck!  I'm no tecchie - just a web-site guy who is being told that HTML is now being superceded and that content management is the way to go.

So which way please?!

Yours, in some desperation

It would be much easier to recommend if you gave some details on your needs.

I can say that I find WordPress a suffice content management system (even though originally developed as a blogging system).

Other then that you can find a nice overview and demos of systems at: Open-Source-CMS (http://www.opensourcecms.com/)

First off, HTML isn't being superseded. Complemented by some server-side scripting, but not superseded. Now as dakar2000 pointed out, we need some more information as to what you're trying to accomplish. I would also suggest finding a hosting company with Fantasico installed as it will allow you to install many opensource CMSs with the click of the button. -jeremy

The simplest way to author content is to blog. In order to blog you can choose between a hosted solution (Blogger.com or Wordpress.com) and a personal solution on your own server. I'd recommend Wordpress.net

I prefer Drupal over Wordpress. WP still has serious issues with duplication to be used as a standard CMS and works best as a blogging app.
