do the marketers have the ability to control our desires or the power to create needs? is this situation changing as the internet creating new ways to interact with companies? if so, how?

As marketing point of view, yes we can create needs. the evolution of tooth brushes take for example. now you have a motorised tooth brush, sophisticated;  who imagined this even before a brush was invented?

interaction with consumers is being made thru online surveys. however offline surveys should also be taken into account.

because the consumer behaviour of a online consumer who buys everything mostly thru credit card is totally different from a consumer viisting a superstore or a mall!

as most of the online buyers account for 75% from USA, then online survey should be relevant to US customers only!
