I live in a manufactured home community and the land owner installed new water lines. My home is piped with cpvc piping. The owner's plumber brought pvc to the home and appears to have connected the two varieties of pipe together with a blue solvent. It is my understanding that a transition fitting is needed when pvc and cpvc are connected? What problems can be expected? Stan Milwee stanmilwee@sbcglobal.net
If it is NOT leaking he must have used a fitting to convert from cpvc to pvc....which in itself is not a problem. Numerous ways to do that too...either by a specific piece made for this or by use of a thread connector. The biggest concern is that since CPVC is for hot and cold water and pvc is only for cold that is the part that I would be concerned with.

The connection was probably made with a female 3/4 inch pvc adapter or a 3/4 inch pvc male adapter going into the cpvc female or male adapter. If the plumber used blue glue which it sounds like you will end up with a leak. Just out of curiosity, was this job inspected?
