I'm planning a solo night-time walk in the countryside for this weekend, for some stargazing. What concerns should I have about being in the countryside this late? Is there any particular equipment I should bring as opposed to when I go walking normally?
The terrain remains the same of course, but I guess that in a suitable night for stargazing there wouldn't be much of a moonlight. Therefore you should carefully learn your route, especially known hazards on the way. Other then that I would take a flashlight, preferably a head lamp. Don't use it while walking, but you know, just in case...
Have fun.
Stargazing is a nice idea. Better make sure you have any communication equipment at hand such as cellular phones so that you can easily ask for help if there's a problems. You can also bring ipod or other stuffs where you can listen to music while doing night-time walk.
