Either your power cord is not connecting well, or, you have it set in your settings for power savings.
If it is a MAC, they had a manufacturing defect that did that a couple years back. My Mac G5 did that. They fixed it free as an announced by Apple mfter defect in 2006 (at about 18 mos old) .. now I am having same problem again (about 18 mos later). In my case it gets progressively sooner that it shuts down and eventually gets to point it wont start up.
