I vaguely remember that when I changed from CRT to LCD I had to install some drivers for the screen, so I'd look at that first. Maybe you'll have to install new drivers for your graphics card. My guess is that your graphics card should be able to handle this resolution (I assume it's not a budget one, if you got this screen).
