First Comic Book

In 1842 Rudolphe Toppfer assembled a comic strips he published into a book called "The Adventures of Obadiah Oldbuck", which considered to be the first comic book that was ever published.

I agree that Rodolphe Töpffer created the first comic book.  The Adventures of Mr. Obadiah Oldbuck was released as the first comic book in America in 1842, but was published originally as Les Amours de Mr. Vieux Bois (a.k.a. Histoire de Mr. Vieux Bois) in 1837, with an original manuscript version of 1827.

It was Töpffer's third published "album" (or comic book).  The first one published was Histoire de Mr. Jabot in 1833.

According to many experts, the precursors to modern comics were the satirical works of artists like Rudolph Töpffer, Wilhelm Bush, Christophe, or Angelo Agostini (first Brazilian comic artist).
