I would think that in this type of college studies are the essence while sports and extra-curricular activities are on the back burner. I would also assume that there is remedial help to help those students needing help in a particular subject.

There are many universities that focus on sports, social scene, internships, extra-curricular activities, clubs/associations, etc.  Then, there are universities that put their academics first and foremost.  It is difficult to know which universities are actually telling the truth when they say that this is what they do.  But, I have to think that there are actually schools that focus on hiring quality professors, that they professors are happy and paid well, and that the school cares more about education than new buildings and money.  I'm not sure though.  It's a problem.  Make sure to do a lot of research before picking a university.
