Collecting individual SS benefits

If both my husband and I apply for SS at age 66, is my benefit only 50% of the total I should get? In other words, can we each collect our own, individual full SS benefit at age 66. We both have worked for the over 40 years.

Judy, You should both be able to collect your own separate benefit amounts. Just call social security and ask. They should be able to tell you over the phone. Or you can go to the social security website at www.ssa.gov. The website has tons of information.
