my first impulse was to agree with his dismissal; however, after discovering his age is only 22 causes me to hesitate with such a finality as firing such a youthful person.  What are the OVERALL CIRCUMSTANCES. Was he a positive influence to the school program, what were his intentions?    Why destroy a young promising career for a youthful misstake. Maybe, probation a counseling or a warning should have sufficed for a first time offender of this age.  If the state wants to prosecute or some type of donating time to others regarding the error of his ways fine; but, firing and an arrest is OVERKILL. thats just my opinion. An older adult or a repetitive offender thats another story.

That person should be prosecuted for contributing to the delinquency of a minor

Yes the coach definitely should have been fired.  The drinking age is 21, not 14!!!  He should also be stripped of his  coaching license to coach anywhere in the US.

This is a very unfortunate event that happened. Both the coach and the gymnast are very young respectively.  But by no means should anyone over 21 years of age be providing alcohol to a minor.  The coach should of found a different way of rewarding the the teen gymnast.  The coach as i mentioned earlier is very young and there-fore inexperienced is going to be punished b the state but should not loose his job.  Possibly he should be suspended from his job for a period of time and should send out a apology letter to the girl and her family and should also send out a acceptance of guilt letter and apology to the rest of the teams parents.  I do feel that the coach should not loose his job completely as he is young and a good coach and the economy is very bad it will be hard for him to find work at some place different after this incident.

He should be fired. What was he thinking? She is only fourteen.

Undecided If not fired he should be suspended for quite a while and should attend some kind of class to learn about the dangers of underage drinking especially considering she was just 14 kid is in like 8th grade. Parents should also talk to her more about the issue at hand also.

What if this child had lost her life?  Then would he be old enough to be responsible for his actions?  He had the role of mentor and coach and failed at both.  It was an illegal act and should be treated as such.  Why should he be given the chance to repeat offend?

Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Yes. Without a doubt. She is only 14. What would your reaction be if it was your daughter?
