Cleaning a kettle

I've been wondering: how do I get the fur out of my kettle? - I really hope fur is the right work, I mean the hard to clean coating inside the kettle that sometimes appears on faucets. I tried rubbing it with a strong soap but it still there. Any suggestions?

Distilled white vinegar boiled and left to set for a few hours usually works rather well for me. Try this

I think so, it's a layer of some kind of "stony" substance
