Why do we put up a Christmas tree?

I enjoy using Yedda to ask and answer medical questions. I previously worked as a nurse but am now based from home - having just completed a long spell of breast cancer treatment.

Life has also been busy lately after the arrival of our new puppy called poppy. She's a black labarador retriever and drives us all crazy at times but we just adore the buzz she brings to the house. Last week she caused me a shoulder injury by tugging when out walking - but I can forgive that for the fun she brings.

Last month my husband invested in the Resperate device for lower blood pressure - and boy is it effective? We've discovered that it's much better overall to lower blood pressure naturally.

In traditional animistic cultures in the middle east and Asia, during the lunar new year each family house will cut down a tree from the forest and bring it to the courtyard of their house.   The celebrations will then focus around that tree, there will be music dancing etc.....they believe that by bringing in the tree from the forest, they are calling back the spirits of their ancestors.  From there it was adopted and adapted by Christianity.
