I don't know a little about everything, but I do know a lot about some things!

My 2 favorite cookies for Christmas are sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies. As far as I'm concerned, those 2 types always are a hit, no matter what culture you come from. But ask 20 people the same qiestion, and you'll probably get 20 different answers.

Rather than give a particular recipe, you probably know about foodnetwork.com. There are other sites too, cooks.com, for example. Their sites are free if you sign up, and they don't annoy you by sending all kinds of junk mail to you. In the past 5 minutes alone, in answer to your query, I have seen over 300 recipes for Christmas cookies alone on the foodnetwork.com site .... all free for the asking.

I hope this helps you out a bit.

Oh, if only there were one answer to this question! Unfortunately, that's why we keep coming out with new magazines and cookbooks every year—because the "best" cookie possibilities are endless. My absolute favorite cookies for the holidays have to be...well, anything that can be made ahead of time and frozen. Most sugar cookies, drop cookies, rolled cookies, and many bar cookies can be made months in advance and frozen until the big day (many can even be frozen in dough form, so you can bake them fresh when you're ready). But if you're looking for a stellar bar cookie—that works for Christmas as well as it did for Halloween and Thanksgiving—is the Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars with Chocolate Topping. One of my very favorite cookies to make is the Quaker Oatmeal Cookie because you can make the dough ahead of time and bake them when you want.  Also you can add whatever fruit or nut you want, and you can use splenda/brown sugar mixture in place of sugar for those who can't have the sugar or are diabetic.
