Personally, I wouldn't consider Rome a "Christian" city any more than New York is, But I'll roll with the question.

There is no one person who can be given the credit for Christ being accepted in Rome. One person except God Himself in whose heart has always been to reconcile men to Himself through Christ.

At the point of Paul's conversion, we can glimpse the heart of God for the conversion of the nations. God revealed to Ananias what His purposes were through Paul. Acts 9:15 "
But the Lord said to Ananias, "Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name."" Paul knew God had chosen him to bring the name of Christ before Kings. He did so in "Rome".

However, credit must also be paid to the blood of the countless maryters who literally gave their lives that it might be so. Peter is one of those with thousands of others.

God did not give me the spirit of fear, but that of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  11Timothy 1:7

Rome is predominantly Catholic, controlled by the Vatican.  Constantine was the beginning of the Catholic faith, claiming to be Christian, or at least half Christian.  I am not certain about Christianity in Rome, since I believe the true values of Christian faith do not reside there.  We are to have no other gods other than our true God, however, people in Rome worship the Pope, who is but a man. I know the Catholic faith claims Peter to be the first Catholic priest but I have found nothing in the Holy Bible that mentions the Catholic religion.  Because Peter visited the Kings of Rome and expounded on salvation through Christ, did not make him a Catholic Priest, but a messenger delivering the teachings of our Lord and Savior.

mommasgirl: First off you're full of misinformation. Constantine did not establish the Catholic faith. In fact he was an Arian which was a heretical theology.

In the Apostolic age christianity was known as The Way. Soon the name of christian was attached to the new religion, possibly by mocking pagans. The first time the term Catholic Church appears is early in the 2nd century in the epistle to the Smyrnaeans written by St Ignatius of Antioch. The church was called Catholic because it means universal. The Catholic church was flourishing long before the time of Constantine.

When Peter and Paul arrived in Rome they found christianity had already spread there.

That anyone worships the Pope is rediculous. He is revered as the successor of St. Peter and the visible head of the church. Catholics are forbidden to woship any one or thing other than God.

I suggest you do a little studying before you post such misrepresentations.

Remember the fourth beast was going to be alive until the Lord himself came and destroyed all the kingdoms of the world replacing them with the one eternal kingdom.  Rome is still the fourth empire and since its religious morph it has played a particular role as a "saint" or as Paul the Apostle put it,"a wolf in sheep's skin".  That role has permeated present society in empirical fashion.  This "Christian" nation is exactly that.  G-D bless you Lambcreek

Tell all the Christians that were martyred during the preceding 300 years that.  Rome wasn't even considered religious it was just another empire until it became a religious empire in the year 325 A.D. in the Council.  They couldn't kill away what work G-D had done so the empire accepted Christians, after all the hoopla, when Constantine passed the Edict of Milan which "legally" stopped the persecutions against Christians.   Constantine converted and now the Rome that killed thousands was getting ready to kill millions.  G-D's work is original not morphed Lido, not mutated, perverted with idolatry or other religious ideas: It stands alone.
