I know that the Chinese crested is the ugliest dog breed you can find, but how are they as pets, are they good with children, do they bark a lot? I am asking this because I have to say I like this ugliness and I am thinking of buying a puppy.

I used to breed Chinese Crested and they are wonderful pets. They love people and other pets. They don't have a mean bone in them. They are just ugly on the outside but very good-natured, just like people. Someone could be ugly but has a heart of gold.
The Dog Breed Info Center says that Chinese Crested dogs are good with children and don't bark a lot. They seem like great pets -- I think I might get one soon!

We just got our first Chinese Crested and he is AWESOME......First let me say....The owners purposely make them ugly...If you would like I will send you picture of Shylow....they are actually beautiful dogs.....And yes they make great pets, they are great with children...As puppies they will bark a little when they are playing...I high;y recommend the Chinese Crested to anyone thinking of getting a new puppy
No there really is Chinese Crested that are Ugly they are also called the True Hairless Chinese Crested the others are hairless but more towards the powderpuffs so yes they are more beautiful dogs but over all these dogs are all beautiful on the inside they are the most loving dogs I have ever met. I have a True hairless the ones that are called UGLY that I am looking for a home for I rescued her from a Breeder they are very expensived dogs and rare to find but NO the owners do not make them ugly they are born that way sorry.....
Do you still have the hairless? And if so, where do you live? I have 2 hairy hairless and I love them to death. Right now I am having trouble with them potty training. They are adults and have seemed to have forgotten all they have learned.
i don't know really, but i think that it would be a good thing :)

i have one and hes the funniest thing to watch. hes over a year old and still not fully potty trained and if we leave him outside too long, he barks and howls like a wolf. He gets along with children great and my cats have finally gotten used to him. He loves the snow and running through the wind. I wish i could get another one.
I have a hairy hairless and a powderpuff, and they are not ugly.They are good family dogs ,they will bark if something is in there yard, but mine anyway dont bark just to bark. They play with my grandkid's and are very loyal, happy dogs. When mine get old and pass away i will get another one maybe two,
