Children being disciplined

Discipline is used in the Military and not when guiding small children. If you show your children love and respect, they will show love and respect back.

right on.  My parents spanked us many time when we were young (8/12) and believe me we turned out very well.  We were not rich but my parents did the best they could for us, and we knew they loved us a bunch.  Nothing wrong with this.

Children hear disrespectful talk to parents on t.v.  I saw a four year old tell her mother she was out of there and move out to live with her father.  This was permitted, believe it or not.  Who's in charge here?  But it has also occurred to me that children should be spoken to as grownups would be wished to be spoken to at a much earlier age than we all knew.  They are better educated, earlier educated and smarter!  After all, they were born to replace us!  No kidding, it must get very boring being talked down to.

There are many ways to discipline children . Giving effective consequences is one way.

Have you watched "Super Nanny?"  It is a show that offers some great ideas for handling children with discipline problems.  Also, you can find some great books and DVD's on raising children at your local library.   

I have four children 3 are adults and they all are very respectful. I believe the training start young. So many times we see parents thinks its funny when their child smarts off when they are at a toddler age. But as they grows older its not as funny. now its rude. When a parent does discipline the child's confused or unresponsive, they have been praised and encouraged before hand and now its time to speak more respectfully and they don't understand the discipline.  As funny or as cute as it may sound when a infant/toddler is disrespectful they have to be told no. Do not laugh or encourage them...if you can help it. I do realize sometimes that is quite a difficult task though

I like this book:Discipline Without Distress:  135 tools for raising caring, responsible children without time-out, spanking, punishment or bribery.The book really teaches the right philosophy of disciplining children.The author explains which parenting techniques work best and why. There are disciplinary examples for every occasion and every age group.  I have learned to truly discipline my children to make them the best adults that they can be.

Spanking just doesn't work. Kids are saying these things because they're emulating what they here. From their parents and/or TV. The answer? Always be mindful around your kids and control what they watch and hear.
