Do young boys (around 2 years old) prefer the company of female adults, and do young girls prefer the company of men?

Well if your telling that the boy prefer their mom and girls prefer their father to be with then i guess thats normal as they seek for parents care and maybe boys find comfort with their mom while girls find security with their dad...as i do feel comfort with im with my mom and security when im with my dad aside from feeling the love from them...

This idea really stems from Freudian psychology, with the Oedipus complex and the Electra complex where the child feels strong feelings for the parent of the opposite sex. This apparently occurs when the child is age 5 and below, though a lot of Freud's theories have been disproved now. It doesn't depend on the sex of the adult; children prefer the adults that they form a bond with at this age, which is shown by the attachment theory.
