Cheap food in Paris

I'm planning a vacation in Paris - what's the cost of food there, more or less? I don't want to eat in places like McDonald's and KFC every day, can I find equally cheap but better meal there?

For lunchtime, for the best values you cannot beat the ethnic restaurants. In the fifth arrondissement (arr.) there are a multitude of Greek, Italian and Vietnamese restaurants. In the sixth arr. there are many Greek and Italian restaurants, and there is Chinatown in the 13th arr. with a plethora of cheap eateries to choose from. Also all around Paris you may find simple street food carts, the crêpe for example is to Parisians what the burger is to Americans - the essential fast food. You can find crêpe stands near all major sightseeing attractions. They are offered with a variety of delicious fillings. For a wider variety of fillings try the crêperies where you can have a filling sit down meal for a bit more money. Another great alternative for cheap eats is the “panini”, a grilled Italian sandwich available everywhere in Paris.

Try Le Cloche des Halles across the road from the NW corner of Jardin des Halles. 26, rue Coquilière. 1st. Tel: 01 42 36 93 89 (Cloche is bell and you can see the sign of the golden bell hanging outside. Their specialities are selection plates of many different cheeses or many different meats (my favourite with hams, pate, salami and so on) served with great bread. I can't rememeber the price exactly but I would guess between USD$10-20 for great home made food. As it's a typical Parisian Cafe, you can get good sandwiches for MickeyD-type prices.

Here's what Frommer Online has to say about cheap eating in Paris: http://www.frommers.com/trip_ideas/cultural_immersion/article.cfm?ideaID=CULTURE&articleID=1771&t=Best%20Dining%20Bets%20in%20Paris%20on%20a%20Budget

In my day job I write about Blood Pressure Treatment and treat those who suffer from blood pressure problems. Low blood pressure is a particular interest and I'm often asked about how to lower cholesterol levels. A healthy heart is becoming a huge focus for many of us nowadays. Improving your blood pressure control and thus the health of your heart and circulation system is really important. My most recent online "adventure" is to start a facility for people to ask me my opinion and to provide high quality health information by answering medical questions online.

I also have a special interest in the problem of feeling Tired All the Time and in those who suffer from chronic fatigue or lethargy. This seems to tie in also to skin care issues or skin treatment problems and suggestions. Tiredness and fatigue can lead to major problems for many individuals in modern society and the way that this can affect all areas of general health can be quite invasive in terms of daily life and coping skills.

My work with footballers and athletes leads to a focus on Painful Shoulder conditions and on the problems associated with frozen shoulder or whiplash injuryRotator cuff injury causes problems for many of my patients.

When not working I daydream about my next amazing european vacation trip  My favorite European cities include Paris and Barcelona and my next blog project will be to write about the best way to spend a night in Paris and how to find an apartment in Barcelona. I just love European travel in all its forms.

Look for the cheap lunchtime special menus - often amazing value

Eat your largest meal at lunchtime - bread, jam and coffee in the mornings and a small meal in the evening should see your money go a long way
