725 thumbs up

I was late for work this morning, because I got stuck in Zeno's paradox

Charles I was charged with tyranny and was brought to trial. He refused to recognise the right of the court to try him, and made no attempt to defend himself. He was found guilty and executed. After this the country was governed by Oliver Cromwell, and some years later when Charles II assumed power he executed anyone who had anything to do with the trial and execution of Charles I.

703 thumbs up

Charles I tried to force Catholocism on England despite the opposition of the Puritans who controlled Parliament. He shut down the Parliament and went to war against Scotland to force Catholocism on the Scots. He lost the war, was captured and put on trial. He was tried for treason and was found guilty. HE WAS EXECUTED BY BEHEADING.

4 thumbs up

Charles I of the Scotish house of Stuart was king of England Scotland and Ireland from 1625 until his execution  on Jan.30 1649. from the beginning of his rule ,he was in contant conflict with his puritan dominated Parliament . He was also suspectedof catolicism , esp because of his Cathoic Queen Henrietta. In 1642Civil War broke out and in 1647 he was handed over to parliament after he tried to make a last stand on his home ground in Scotland  . He was put on trial before Parliament , sentenced to death by difference of one single vote and executed by beheading in the Tower of London. Sir Alec Guiness gave an unforgetable portrait of the king inthe movie Cromwell.
