Look at the bottom of the engine, and transmission, for Allen bolts. These are drain plugs. Both take 3/8 Allen wrenches and require a significant force to open or shut them. Change your oil about 2,000 miles at most: you can buy a lot of oil for the price of a set of bearings and new pistons.
1. Drain the engine, and change the oil filter. Refill with SAE-50 oil. Harley markets Chevron Delo as their petroleum-based engine oil, but I greatly prefer the tougher lube found with Amzoil: it's all synthetic, much tougher than anything that comes from the ground.
2. Drain the transmission and use SAE 90 transmission lube. I prefer Chevron, but Mobil Synthetic works well also. Transmissions definitely demand synthetic lube.
3. While you have your scooter on the stands, this is the time to check out the clutch play, check the brakes, wheels, electrics, tires, and all else that makes decent maintenance.
