This is really a scam in that the 'supposed' guilty party really only sold information to another financial marketing firm that for some reason isn't being named ?another Certegy subsidiary or partner?. That amount this guy was paid was peanuts for nearly the 8.5M names and financial info 'sold'.
What is happening now it a full scale 'legally legit phishing marketing scam' by this check/creditcard approving, credit records and emarketing company to go about getting potential customers by the millions to sign onto unneeded credit protection insurance and monitoring services for a time to be charged later, hand out private financial banking info to prove it may or may be part of the court case(Certegy constantly denies and bounces people's checks at stores using their check approval services.) and then opt out in the small print from any larger court decree for them to pay cash for compromised personal data that may or may not ever be used illegally yet agreed to wider marketing phishing calls, email and postcards by a Best Buys or other mass marketing companies they have accounts with.
Don't fillout or sign anything until you get sent something from the prosecuting firm saying there is a ruling of a wide settlement and you are party to a percentage and apply for it or it's goes unclaimed.
