A:By all means, go ahead and take their mother to brunch.
The best thing you can do is teach your boys that respect and courtesy do not have to stop just because you and your ex are no longer a couple.
If they are very young they may not understand right away, but please do not let that stop you.
If they ask questions, tell them that just because you and their mother do not love each other any more does not mean that you should be mean to each other.
Explain to them that she is their mother and because they are young and you are their father, you are all going to show their mother what a great mom she is by taking her out on Mother's Day.
You can add that once they get to be old enough, you expect they will remember Mother's Day on their own and take steps to honor their mom without your help or assistance.
Good job! I wish all divorced parents were so thoughtful.
