Catholic

I am 20 years old.  I grew up in a non religious family and know nothing of any religion.  I however have always believed in the lord, but belonged to no religion.  I was never baptised.  I would like to become a catholic.  How do I go about becoming a catholic?

Turn off the television and teach your children how to think.

I am not Catholic, but I am pretty sure that if you go to the Catholic church closest to where you live and speak to the priest (or whoever you find who may be in charge); that person should be able to tell you what you would need to do.

(I'm pretty sure it will involve some religious classes of some sort, but I think most parishes offer that - or can point you to a parish that does.)

Go to your local parish priest and enroll in the RCIA (Rite of Christain Initiation for Adults) program. Keep me posted.

Welcome to the Church!

Laughable.  Why in the world would a person choose to be a Catholic if they know nothing about religion?  Of all the Christian religions, this is probably the most rigid, less questioning, less thought provoking, authoritarian of all.  A bit of research might be inorder before committing oneself to this or any other dogmatic sect.  Get a book on comparable religions and learn a bit about each before giving yourself (and your money) to a religion.

wweihe; obviously you know nothing about the Catholic faith or you would not be writing such nonsense.

You should not be ridiculing KR for wanting to be Catholic. She is free to study any religion she wants. Let God lead her.

wweihe......i am glad that you stand up for your beliefs but unlike you i do not chose to ridicule people if they have a different stance.  To each his own.  If you chose to say hateful things to an innocent person just because they have chosen a different path then i feel sorry for you. Most people would be angry with your statement, but i am not.  But, if those are the things you have to say to people to make yourself feel better then so be it.

Why not be an atheist instead?
