If you are thinking of a Mazda I think that you're in the right direction. The question is what model are you thinking of. If you're thinking of getting a Mazda 3, I would say it's simply in a different class than the 207 (and also more expensive). I know many people who are very happy with their Mazda and it's my inclination to go for Japanese cars over French but I have to admit that I don't have too much experience with the smaller Mazda models.
I'm sure you won't be sorry, no matter which way you go, so just try and get the car that answers your needs best.
