Career women

Are there still men out that that

don't expect the woman to be the breadwinner?

I wouldn't wanna be in a club that wouldn't let me in...

Of course.  There are men with many different expectations, and many women with their own very different expectations.  Of course there are very motivated women today who want to start their own businesses, be doctors, be busy, work at lot, change the world, run for president, etc.  There are women who truly like being traditional and want to spend their time in the home, focusing their time on their children and keeping the home.  There are many women who find some sort of balance between these two.  There is no right or wrong.  What is wrong is for the man to insist that his wife be one way or another.  I think that this is of course an important conversation to have before deciding to marry someone, but every human has a right to lead their life they way they wish.  If a woman has a dream, they man should not try to stop her.  If a woman or man wants to stay in the house, then they should be able to... however, these things need to be discussed in detail before marriage.

This was very helpful..thank you.  I was married to my first husband for 24 years.  I was the homemaker and pretty much the only parent for most of the time..My husband was in the trucking business.  I also made income by my music talent so it actually wasn't bad at all.  I tried to do the work that I did when my children were at school.

I am in a second marriage with a husband that expects me to work full time and it's hard because I have five children and grandchildren and I want to be involved in their lives and know them.  He has high expectations..actually wants me to be a full time worker and a full time home maker...this is driving me bonkers.  I really don't think working full time and being a wife is the best idea..especially since he seems to need to keep track of me.

I'm glad that what I said was helpful.  I think that it's really awesome that you work so hard and that you try so hard to be the best you can.  I think that you should sit down with your husband and remind him that you love the family and care about your career, and that you're not lazy... but that doesn't mean that you don't need his help.  I think that it is just as much the man's responsibility to keep the home and take care of the children, as it is the woman.  Remind him that you are in this together and that you want the best for your children and the best for everyone.  Maybe he can help out more or lower his standards a little so you aren't constantly feeling under pressure.  Good luck.
