Car loan company went out of business

I bought a car about 11 years ago from a used car lot.  The manager of the lot set me up with a loan through a small local investor.  The investor went out of buisness about 8 years ago.  My checks stopped getting cashed and I never got a title on my car.  I haven't been able to contact anyone from the investment company in the last 8 years.  I want to sell the car, but I need to get the title before I can sell it.  Any suggestions about how I should do this?

Some people are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.

If the car dealer can't supply you with a name and/or company of who may have took over the local investor that went out of businss for you to call, try contacting your Secretary of State office and run it by them.  If you have proof that the local investor went out of business and that you did your due diligence in trying to contact someone to send payments to, they may let you apply for a duplicate title in your name if you have the original contract and paperwork showing you legally purchased the car.

Definitly check with the State. Virginia, and others, have a fund supporte4d by Dealers to assist users withproblem Dealers. This also applies to licenced contractors .
