There are a couple tips I can give if anyone thinks he can add that would be great. I think when choosing a car insurance plan first you should check the company that is giving you the plan. See if they have a good customer service for whenever you will need them. Look for big companies with lots of offices , agents , dedicated call centers, networks etc. Check if the company has any local agents in your area. See hoe easy it is to turn in a claim- check how fast the response time is etc.At the end the reputation of the company should indicate its service. I wouldn't choose a company new with a low financial stability. Check the insurance companies financial ratings in your area.

About the plan you should first check out the laws in your state which define the minimum coverage needed. You have to decide how much you are willing to pay meaning the deductible in case of an accident. You have to choose if you want a full coverage or a liability insurance coverage, I would go for full unless you have a a loan out with the vehicle as collateral. If you own more then one car and if you get a number of policies with one agent/company you can get a discount .

Good Luck .

There are so many policies present in the insurance market like Cheap car insurance, Driver Insurance, Women Driver Insurance, New Driver Insurance etc.
Before taking consideration of car insurance from a copany you must have to enquire about the services and facilities provided by the company, and also how fast is the response of the company for a customer.

There are several things to consider when buying auto insurance.

  1. Having enough liability insurance.  Many people believe that the "State Minimum" in sufficient.  It might make them legal but in many states the amount is so low that the person is still subject to be sued because the amount of the claim exceeds their policy limits. In Ohio for example the state minimum is a joke ($7,500).  An Ohio resident who has the state minium who hits a new SUV ($30,000) will end up being personally responsible for $30,000 - $7,5000 = $22,500.
  2. Check the company's rating.  There are independent rating organizations that rate companies based on their financial strength and ability to meet either its obligations.  One of the most know is AM Best http://www.ambest.com/
  3. Compare as many quotes as possible!

There are services that can help you find the best quote available to you.

By filling out one form on-line you can get multiple quotes from different companies and agents.

This beats talking to dozens of agents giving the same information over and over just to end up getting quotes from the same companies.

I have been able to save a lot of money by shopping every few years.

The important thing is to use reliable companies that offer this kind of service. I know of two that are very good. If you are interested you can access them at:

I hope that this helps.

GOOD LUCK!
