I’ve been shopping around for a nice camera as well and am also thinking about buying the Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera. As far as I can tell, Amazon seems to have the best price.

I've been an EOS shooter since 1986 with the EOS 20 film camera. When the Rebels came out in film form, I didn't like them, and went with the Elan line. Now in digital form, I like the Rebels even less. I highly recommend spending the extra $ and going up to the 7D.
