Cancelled credit card

I received a letter today from Citi stating that they were closing one of my credit cards.  Since this card carries 40% of my credit what should I do to try to preserve my credit?  (The card is not anywhere maxed out.)

Settle your unsecured debt for 40-60 cents on the dollar

I got the same thing from citi on my Home Depot card with $0 balance.  I don't know what the answer is.  I do know that the creditors want to lower their exposure to losses so they are canceling and lowering credit limits across the board.
