I can't say for sure -- but it doesn't seem that a friend can't sponsor you for immigration to Canada.  Certain family members, however, apparently can sponsor you.

No- the only ways to be sponsored by a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada are:

-if you are their spouse or commonlaw partner (been living together for at least one full year)

-if you are their dependant child (unders 22 years old)

-you are their parent or grandparent.

The only other ways to immigrate are as a Skilled Worker, or as a Business person with plans to start a business here, with LOTS of Cdn. money.

No. Your friend can't sponsor you to immigrate in Canada. Only your families can do this for you. Or if you are married, engaged to (fiancé), or in a de facto (common law) relationship with Canadian citizen, you can also be granted with a Partner Visa.
