Total irresponsibility on her part, and the doctors part.  Call me cynical but I think the book deals and the T. V. shows may have been the motive. Why else would anyone have had 8 eggs fertilized in vitro. There should be a law against this. Two is the standard. Not 8...............How could a doctor risk this womans life, and how could this woman jeopardize the lives, and quality of her children's lives, in what I think is a plan to make money.

She and her doctor (s) knew just what they were doing.  I know the economy is bad and there are all types of scheme out here, but this is too much.  The OJay's said it best for the love of money!!!!!!!  The woman is prostituting her children if she accepts one red cent.  Maybe she should allow 8 couples who are unable to have children to adopt one each.  The children that she already has are going to suffer trying to help with their brothers and sisters.  I will not support or buy from any Motion Picture Studio, baby food company, cereal company, diaper company, etc. that supports this money making venture they have cooked up.  Let her and the doctors support their children!!!!!!!!!

I'm stunned by the irresponsibility on both the part of the "parent" and the physician that would assist in this venture.  A single parent who, by all reports, only wants to have babies.  Wow.  All for the sake of the almighty buck.

After reading various accounts of this occurrence, I have several responses.  (1)This woman needs a psychological evaluation to determine competence to parent since she seems so obsessed with having children.  She put herself and these unborn children at risk when she followed through with a high-risk procedure...the human body isn't built to "sire litters of children".  (2) The doctor who implanted 8 embyros should have his/her license suspended.  (3) The hospital where this procedure occurred needs to look at its current ethics committee and the work it's doing to assist doctors in making appropriate ethical decisions on behalf of their patients.  (4) California children's protective services needs to keep this family "flagged" for ongoing monitoring...there is huge risk here for abuse or neglect with 14 children under age 7 in the home (8 of them newborn).  (5) This woman should IN NO WAY profit (book deals, movies, "freebies", etc.) from this irresponsible and reckless behavior!

What am I missing here?  Single mother. 14 children. And the money comes from where?  And will come from where?  Does anyone know how much she receives per child?  I can understand wanting children, but, hey!  come on!  14!!!  Did this woman even think about cost, expenses before in vitro?  Did doctors or social services question/investigate?  I don't understand.  So will someone please explain to me what I'm missing here?

All of this is bulls***!  She shouldn't make a dime off of her ridiculous choices.  I think this woman tried this just to make money.  I am sick of these money hungry people using their children to better their position in life.  This woman was living with her own parents as it was with no father.  Tell me what idiot let her go ahead with invitro when there are REAL people and REAL couples that can't even afford that.  None of this is adding up, her children should never have been conceived and they shouldn't be allowed to reap the rewards of irresponsibility.  Like the world isn't over-populated enough now we're going to have 14 MORE kids on welfare because her parents got sick of this s*** too and kicked her out.  Then we wonder why America is sinking, it's because idiots like this are helping to destroy it.

I think this woman is fricking delusional.  Apparently, this is the only way she knows to get attention. I also find it reprehensible she is now seeking to make a big buck from her irresponsible behavior. So, now she has hired a publicist! Sure, this takes the meaning of "cash cow" to a whole new level!  Initially, I felt it was no one's business if this woman wanted a lot of children, but the more information that is revealed about this situation, the more disgusted I become.  The social service/child welfare agency in the State of California should be investigating this woman and remove her children to foster care, if it is found she has a psychological problem and/or lacks the resources to properly care for them. She is an insult to motherhood, not the role model she seems to feel she is.

I come from a family of 11 children, back when it was much easier and cheaper to raise a large family. My parents were NEVER on welfare or did they receive anything for free. This woman is self centered, and doesn't know what she has done to her children. I don't believe that she even cares what she has set up for her children. It's all about HER. You cannot take care of that many children under the age of seven, without help and lots of it. She doen't even have a job. I am a Realtor and couldn't take care of that many children. SHAME on her and the Doctor that helped her.The state of California should sue the Doctor for the cost of caring for those children. If she loves children so much, why wouldn't she Foster some that are already her? I am so angry about this.
