Calculate dividends - homework help

I,m trying to find out how much dividend to pay out to stockholders I dont need the answer I just need the formula(s) to calculate. According to the Comparative Balance Sheet I know that by year-end 2007, the Common Stock was $16000, year-end 2006 it was $10,000 and I know that the retained earning for 2007 was $6,700 and year-end 2006 it was 1,400. Alos new shares were sold during the 2007 year. There is nothing to tell me what the par value is or the earnings per share and I'm confused as to how to calculate the answere.
