Cakes with Instant Pudding

For cake recipes that call for a box of instant pudding, can you use cook & serve pudding instead?

Probably not. I wouldn't advise it, at any rate., The instant mix is already mixed with the necessary ingredients to make it good just as it is, while the cook and serve mix might not react in a good way with the other ingredients in the recipe.

I usually prefer the non cooked refrigerated version of the pudding cakes. The pudding tends to solidify so it is hard to serve nicely if t is not done instantly. By adding some 9% fat sour cream and part milk you can make the pudding solidify less.I am not sure if I can answer your question directly, yet I would like to point out where I usually get my information which is also of Nutrition value.

No, the result will not be the same.  Use the instant pudding.
