My DVR wasnt working properly so Comcast sent out a repairmen to fix it. He swapped the boxes and problem solved. Then he sees my laptop and asks if he can use my computer real quick to check the internet connection. He points my web browser to some diagnostics page for the modem and tells me there's actually a small problem. He then goes upstairs to where the modem is (It's a loft and open to below so i saw no reason to follow) and i can hear him messing with the cable behind the wall for about 10 minutes. After he finished he came down and told me there was actually a small cut in the cable behind the wall but it was now fixed. Before he did this however my computer showed my internet speed at 125 Mps which prior to moving into this apt complex was unheard of to me. I was used to 48 or 54 Mps. However after he left i noticed my speed was now 36 Mps. Any idea what he might have "really" done behind my wall. I'm writing this from work and have not yet removed the plate from the wall to take a look.
I really can't see how messing with cables can slow your connection... but it's clear that it has something to do with the cable guy. It's hard to tell, but why don't you ask comcast to send a repairman again for a recheck ?
