CLoset Makeover

Ask Eric Stromer a question Hi Eric, I'm moving into a new house and the closet in the master bedroom needs a makeover its pretty narrow and the current layout has the rods over lapping and two plywood shelves above the rods. I'm trying to come up with a solution but with such a confinded space I'm drawing a blank trying figure out a way to fit clothing for two people in there. PLEASE HELP!!

Could you define "pretty narrow?"  What one person considers confined, another could boast was "spacious."  What direction is the overlap, horizontal or vertical?

I havent gotten a chance to get the measurements, but its a square area that has enought room for you to step with a few inches to move. The rods cross to make an overlapping L shape
