My CD ROM drive on my desktop computer isn't finding/reading discs. It doesn't autoplay and it also says "Please enter a disc" when I click on the CD ROM drive in My Computer. What could be the causes of this? It's an HP m8100n.
It sounds like your CD ROM needs to be replaced since it's worn out. Another option there might be lots of dust on the sensor reading the CD's, something is blocking the beam. You might want to get something to clean it there are lots of products on line you can google them.
That's what I thought, but I have only had my computer for 2 months. I bought it brand new on September 2. I am going to call HP sometime and hope it's covered under their warranty.
