Buying stolen merchandise

Someone came into my friend's place of business trying to sell an Ipod.  It sounded like a good deal but the item was stolen.  When my friend accepted the bait he was arrested.  Later on at the precinct he was finger-printed and pix'd.  Then he was given a D.A.T. ticket.   What is the possible outcome of this?  Could this outcome hurt his chances with his immigration status proceedings?  What's the best way out.  He is a good hard working man who was set up by this police sting operation!

this is a serious case because there is no way for the person to say that he didn't do anything wrong cause he was caught on the sence.I am not sure if they can stop his immigration cause this is not a serious crime. They might just have him to go to court and something like this i don't even think that he will get jail time. This was only an ipod.THis is not like this is grand theft. He mad a wrong jugdement and i think this person knows now his mistake and i don't think that he will try to sell any thing any moe to know one.I don't even think that he will need a paid lawyer but he might want to look into some legal help for the immigration part.HE doesn't need something as little as this to put him behind in the proceeding of his immigration case.WEll i wish him luck and hope for the best for him.
