Buying a light meter for a home studio

I consider buying a home studio lighting set for 200$, give or take. I use a DSLR. Do you think that I should also get a light meter, that costs like the whole set, or just bracket until I get a satisfying result?

I would suggest you bracket and not depend on a light meter. You will soon find the a light meter is unnecessary and your judgement more accurate.
